That is right ladies and gentleman. The long awaited user arcade challenges system is up and running. I think I got all the bugs out but this ended up being quite a complicated script so if you find anything please let me know! I am kind of nervous because this ended up being so complicated I am hoping there are not huge bugs in the system that somehow I overlooked. I had multiple people test the system using multiple scenarios so I am hoping it all works out. This is another USERS ONLY option so why haven't you signed up yet? Enough talking and let me describe the system for you.
First and foremost to challenge another you you will need to click on their profile. Then on the left side under the arcade picture click on Games/Stats. In there list of games it will give you which ones you can challenge that user to. To challenge you and the person you want to challenge must both have arcade access and the arcade game to setup a challenge. You have the option of challenging for fun (0 credits) or up to 50 credits in increments of 5. Once Person 1 challenges Person 2 they will get a message in their inbox with decline/accept options. Person 2 will have up to 5 days to accept or decline the challenge or it will auto decline the challenge. If Person 2 accepts they challenge they will have 24 hours from accepting the challenge to submit a score using the special challenge link they will also get in their inbox after accepting the challenge. Person 1 who initiated the challenge will then have 5 days from the time Person 2 accepted the challenge to submit their own score using the special link in their inbox as well. If either person does not submit a score in the allocated times after the challenge was accepted they will submit a score of 0. After both parties have submitted a score another message will appear in their inbox with the results of the challenges along with the scores. If credits were wagered they are taken from you as soon as the challenge is initiated/accepted and will be dealt with after the challenge has finished completely. You will also be able to see pending challenge credits and wins/loses in your credit log along with scores etc from previous challenges. In the event of a tie each person will get a message confirming that they have 72 hours to submit another score. Again if no score is submitted in the allocated time then they will auto submit a score of 0. This may seem complicated reading it in a block of text but I do believe the messages you will be getting when going through the challenge process will explain everything you should need to know. I will eventually be working on things like challenge stats etc but those will come at a later date. If you have suggestions/comments, as always, I would be happy to hear them. Until I get a page up with challenge outcomes/pending challenges I suggest you save your message that contains the play link for your challege until the challenge is completed. At this time that is the only way to get the link.
Now for other new my video card committed suicide today. It was working just fine then everything went wacky and I spent all day trying to fix it. I took my computer apart switching out parts trying to figure out which part actually failed and finally came to the conclusion it was the graphics card. I can however use onboard graphics so I can at least use the computer but that means no games until I go get a new one. Boo! Hell maybe I will have more time to work on the site or something. Anyways not a whole lot from me as I want to get to work on the some challenge information but again I ask you to tell your friends about boonism. The user base is growing slowly but I think if everyone got 1 more person to sign up and so on and so forth we could really turn boonism back into a powerhouse on the net.

Well hello there boonismers. It has been a few days and I have actually been quite busy with life and doing this and that. Got myself burnt. I guess that is what I get for going outside though. Perhaps I should just stay inside and work on boonism all day eh? I am sure some of you would like that, heh. Anyways, I have started a few minor projects and some major ones here for boonism. I have been jumping back and forth with them as I am still unsure what will hit the site and what won't but trust me, there is plenty in the works.
Well I did get some minor additions that are visible to the users. I redid the messages here on the site to use that comment style box and those have been redone so you can send colorful messages etc through the site. Not a big change but hell, it is an upgrade. That did not take too long at all and I was excited to get working on the challenge part of the arcade. Turns out it was a bit more work then expected but it should be done and ready to roll. Since it ended up taking longer then expected I will need to start the challenge script later but mind you it is up there on the list. Well before I started on that I wanted to just touch up the code to work with the other type of forum games. (Originally it worked with PHPBB Arcade games only. Well I knew eventually I wanted to add games from Vbulletins IB Arcade so I needed to redo some code for that. What does this mean for you? More games in the arcade! Some very good ones as well. I put up a few requested ones, defend your castle and space runner and if there are others you're looking for let me know. There is now a total of 50 arcade games to choose from so that should keep you all busy for a little while as I continue to plug away. I have heard good suggestions from people and I will encourage you to drop me a line and let me know what you think of the site and what should be added.
Enough about the site......now its time for something from my childhood. Remember Chuck E Cheese (formerly Showbiz Pizza)? Well I sure as hell do. What sticks out in my mind? The robot band of course! I guess the official title is the Rock-afire Explosion and it turns out someone has too much time on their hands (imagine that) and has been programming a set of that to songs by request via YouTube. Here is a video of my current favorite and make sure to check out the other videos. They are doing: Usher - Love In This Club. I don't really like the song but I think the choice of the song makes it hilarious. Note the song is NOT edited for the radio.
I lol'd and had to watch it a few times. Man, a blast from the past. You can click the video and it should open the YouTube page where you can find links to other songs he has put together.

Got game? Prove it! The boonism arcade currently has 34 total arcade games for you to enjoy and compete against the other users and will continue to grow! Initial cost of the arcade is 50 credits which will include 5 games. Then each additional game will cost 10-20 credits each and you'll be able to pick and choose which you want to unlock and when. Why not kill some time and prove your worth? Make a high score and you'll get 5 credits back. So why not register and give it a go.
On site news I have actually been pretty busy with life as of late but I have started some possible additions to the site and we will see where they end up. A few things I have put on paper have taken steps farther but we will see if they will get put in or not. There is a little more of a forum feel to the comments as there are more options and colors etc for comments. Not a huge deal but it is a baby step towards some things that might unfold. I've stated also on the Photoshop tutorials and will continue to work on those to get those up for you all as soon as I can.
Just on a sports note go Twins. Knocked off 1st place Chicago White Sox 2 games thus far in a 4 game home series. It could put the Twins in 1st place in the division which would be hawt. Go Twins! They have been having hot second half of the seasons in the last few years and hopefully that continues.
Edit Now you can view if someone has the arcade unlocked or not by viewing their profile. There you will also be able to see the list of games the person has a well as some stats about their playing of those games. If you find any errors let me know!
Edit 8/1 It has come to my attention that Space Ace is giving problems with the score submit. I have deactivated the game and will get it fixed either later today or tomorrow.

If any of you pay attention to sports at all I am sure you have all heard of the Farve fiasco. It seems the Packers are going to start Rodgers no matter what. Lawls. As a hardcore Viking fan I automatically hate the Packers and everything they stand for. If you lived in the midwest you would understand the rivalry etc but there is pretty bad blood between the Vikings and Packers and we do get to duke it out the first Monday night game of the season at Lambeau Field. It was the game they were supposed to retire Brett's jersey. How fucking sweet would it be to have Brett in a purple and gold jersey on the other sideline? As a Packer I have to hate Brett Farve (cry more noob) but you have to respect the records he holds and that either way you look at it he is a quality quarterback. Unlike Tavaris Jackson who is a horrible and is going to ruin any chances the Vikings have for seasons to come if we keep him. Anyways the point I am trying to make is that if Farve became a Viking I would buy his Viking jersey on day 1. Why? Because I know so many Packers fans and I would wear it daily to rub it in. Oh god the tears they would shed would be glorious. I would never need to bathe again as I could bathe in their tears. GLORIOUS! So Yes it would be a good fit for the Vikings as well ruin the Packers hopes and dreams. So where is the downside you might ask? I say there is none. Vikings I beg of you to pull a trade out of your ass and get him. Please!
For a few site updates. Yesterday I added 8 arcade games. I made it so the non users cannot view comments and also went back to making all files user only. I put back up the old free layouts that helped make boonism so big before. I lol'd at the fact that the first one was made in like 1999. Crazy to think I have been doing this that long.

So I got myself a new monitor. The Gateway FPD2185W and it is great. 21' inch wide screen display with 1650x1080 resolution. It also can rotate 90 degrees and will auto change the resolution to fit the screen. As you can see in the picture it is amazing when browsing web sites. I am very excited because my last monitor was a pile of shit. This one is crisp, clear and the ability to rotate the monitor is amazing.
So I am spending the weekend at my dad's house watching the dog while he is out of town this weekend. Pretty boring and not a whole lot to do but oh well. It should give me some time to work on the site....but.....well I am kind of at a loss for words. I figured the arcade would bring in some more users etc but....nothing. I am averaging roughly 3x the amount of users in unique hits a day but nobody seems to be signing up.....Why not? I want to continue to add things for users but I wasn't really planning spending hours and hours coding for the stuff to only reach roughly 30 people. Any ideas from you guys/gals?
